So half the fun of a festie is the extra curricular activites. Rothbury in my opinion was one of the best festies around, with so many other things to do and look at, like the Sherwood Forest, Lake with blow up slide, and other art exhibits (2008's Monkey Sculpture was the best) etc...
Hopefully, with only one other big July 4 Festival happening (High Sierra in CA) and with Rothbury gone, they pull out all the stops to dazzle us.
So far I've heard about a Ferris Wheel, a Rock Climbing Wall, and a Bungee Jump contraption, which I will most likely be trying in my pursuit of an adrenaline rush.
I would also like to see; -Some Crazy Sculptures and Art -Traveling Circus/Acrobats -Gongs Gongs and More Gongs (www.gongtheplanet.com) -Gyroscope (which is at a bunch of festies including vibes and wormtown) -Fire Sculptures -Live Glass Blower -Some Stand up Comedians (I've always wanted to see Reggie Watts, and I know it's a long shot since he's opening up for the Conan Live Tour, but some live comedy would be nice)
and Obviously tons of Fireworks
Any other thoughts/comments on what extra curriculars you'd like to see?

I tend to stay away from ride type things, unless there is a short line. I do love fire dancers/spinners, and browsing vendors as well. 2 years ago at Mt. Jam there was a little booth where a guy had a gong and reclining lawn chair. You would sit in the chair fully reclined with your head almost touching the gong, and he would lightly hit the gong and man, was that a trip. You can barely hear it if you're not the one in the chair, but once you sit down you can feel it through your entire body. Or maybe it was just me. haha.

Yard Dog Road Show! would be a cool to have in one of the party barns or tents late night or as a rolling act throughout the day

I'm up for anything, surprise me. vincheese, you might be disappointed in pursuit of your adrenaline rush, read in another thread that the kibosh was put on the bungee jump after input from the legal eagles. I would've loved that too.

P.S. I hope the mechanical bull I read about at the Nateva site is still a go

I'm bummed that they put the kebosh on the bungee jumping. Never done it before, and I would've loved to at Nateva. But I hope the gong is there, one of my favorite things from Rothbury. Other than that, I echo the "surprise me" aspect. The problem with Rothbury 09 is some of the new things (like the bigger stage in the forest and the Reincarnation Garden) were announced before hand. Plus it was missing the "Holy Crap" aspect of something like the Flying Monkeys. Do a few epic things, and don't announce them. Rothbury could've done that by not announcing the second UM set until you got there, for example. What an amazing surprise that would've been. "Oh, by the way, UM will be playing a second show on Sunday night. Figured you'd enjoy that." Anyways, if I was to give advice to Nateva about this sort of thing, it would be to announce some things, but have a bunch of surprises for folks when they get there.

Also I'm a big fan of sketchy Carnival Rides....ha
I definitely agree with the surprise aspect. Rothbury 2008 they didn't reveal much, and they ended up totally blowing me and everyone else away.

I've always wanted to do the 'roo ferris wheel, but have never accomplised this goal once I'm actually in Centeroo. I remember sitting in the grass staring at it with my fiancee last year, but was apparently too lazy to just get up and go. ;D
Maybe we'll ride Nateva's this year.

I just can't imagine doing it during the day in the Tennessee sun... and then at night, there's just too much fun to be had everywhere and my ADD comes calling... and it's apparently always in the opposite direction of the ferris wheel.

Ya, Tennesee is too damn hot, especially for a pastey white ghost like myself. I prefer a milder climate, where ya know, you can breathe, and not get woken up at the crack of dawn by the sun.

i plan on doing it during the day once and then at night. i figure i'll do it during jay z or one of the other headliners since most ppl will be there & shouldn't be much of a line the heat doesn't really bother me. well except for the time i passed out in the mud but then i figured it out. instead of getting in the middle of the rush to go thru the gates i stay on the outside so i can get some air worked wonderfully from that point on

I would love if they just let a couple dozen howler monkeys roam free on the festival grounds.

Two years ago at Mt. Jam there was a bear in the camping area, and it ripped someone's tent and ran away with a back pack. Pretty wild way to start the weekend. Howler monkeys would be cool, until they started flinging poo everywhere.

I was there for that.. didnt see the back pack get stolen but I did see the bears.. actually every year I have gone I have seen bears come to think of it. Howler monkeys, yes please. Poo flinging? Yep that too. Throw in a couple more exotic animals roaming and things would get really interesting.. cheetahs anyone?

I always thought a petting zoo of only dogs would be a great idea.... what can be better than being surrounded by big, shaggy, happy dogs?

Spoke with a sky-diving company today that wants to run a booth at Nateva. They want to have a couple of parachuters fly into the festival on a few occasions through-out the weekend. Hopefully with the smoke trail and kool outfits.. not sure if this will get approved but it sounded like a great idea to me. Yay? Nay?

Sounds cool, as long as they have a nice open area to land...wouldn't want them coming down on my tent lol

Indoor Sky diving would be sweet but I’m not sure I would want the outdoor sky diving at a 3 day music festival. I don’t think it would be to safe imo. I would think if the bungee got shut down this would.

skydivers flying in sounds sickkkkk. I've been skydiving before, along with the indoor tunnel in NH which is also a ton of fun, but watching skydivers fly in is a really cool spectical as well. It's relatively safe too, in that only 1 in every 78,000 jumps results in an accident or .00128% aka really low.

I would think if the bungee got shut down this would. I meant of course that it would be trained professionals doing this. Not that it would be offered as some sort of ride, if that is what you were thinking.

I was def not thinking that. Just expressing my enthusiasm towards such a cool idea. I can tell you, I'm getting very excited, especially in recent light of possible additions to be made tomorrow. Even though I already bought my ticket, people on the street are doing a great job of getting the word out about it. So far I've been handed a Nateva flyer 4 times in the past couple weeks, 2 nights of Soulive in Boston, at the Stone Church in NH last week, and at Johnny D's in Sommerville last week for Zach Deputy. Keep up the good work. Really anxious to see what you have in store.
