so, i used to be upset w/ the allmans after they kicked out dingleie betts, hadn't gone to see them sincec 98...i went last year to the last show of the beacon run to give them a chance, when phil and bobby joined them, and derek trucks blew my mind...he is the absolute best, saw them again at the beach over the summer. he is a big reason why i wanted to attend this fest. i was curious as to what he and his wife do in their set. what am i to expect?? does anybody think he will join phil and bobby for a few tunes? i hope so...that allmans show at the beacon, set II with them all was amazing.

It would not shock me one bit if Derek came out with Furthur. Although I am only 23 and certainly missed all the best of dingley I can say for sure from what I have listened to that Derek fills in nicely, as you now know! The dingley Betts shows I have seen havent really been that impressive.. everything with Derek - multiple bands - has been fantastic imo

Well, I love the DTB and can answer these questions. Derek and Susan will do almost entierly new material. The set they did at wanee hit archive.org and they killed about 18 songs I'd never heard before. The band will have multiple singers and most likely a horn section and two drummers. My wife, friends and my self knew we were going to this fest when it was just Derek & Susan w/ FLips. So to answer your question exactly like you asked it. You can expect 90 kick a$$ minutes of R&B awsomeness. And I fully expect Susan to sing atleast one with Further ( you can't not use that incredible voice) Also I predict we will see a Franlin's>Blue Sky>GDTRFB run with derek or sub GDTRFB for St. Steven.

I can't wait to see them! Yet another group I've never seen live, but really want to.

I'm pumped that I'll get a double dose of DT this summer, at MJ (Most likely with Warren Haynes on a couple of songs) and again at Nateva. I've only seen him w/ the Allmans before, and I'm psyched to see him break out his own stuff!

Actually, Derek isn't dingleie's replacement. Warren is dingleie's replacement. Derek plays all of Duane's parts.... Either way I highly recommend you don't miss his set. Him and his wife are excellent.

yeah, i know he didn't "replace" d1ckie. i just mean when i saw the allmans w/ d1ckie, derek wasn't there yet so i never knew how amazing he is. duane allman is one of, if not my favorite guitar player. i looked up some of derek's setlists, i saw back in december he busted out "key to the highway" and "anyday"....derek and the dominos tunes, if he busted them out i'd be sooooooo happy. i know clapton came to last years allman beacon run and derek did duane's parts on some DATD tunes, i would sell my soul to have been there for that one hahaha hopefully we get another unforgettable moment with the furthur and derek and susan, how about a help>slip(elizabeth reed tease)>frank>lovelight>st stephen>lovelight?
