Ok, so this issue has become much clearer now. This proposal has nothing to do with Nateva whatsoever. And if it did who cares...sit home and whine about it. We'll all be there livin it up. Basically the town has plenty of open space for building and are looking to build an amphitheater to bring in money to help stimulate their local economy. Plain and simple. This is a proposal. If passed there will be many more steps to follow before anything will be built. In reality it will be at least a few years before this stadium will stand. Did these visitors really think that this would be built before July?? Ha, C'mon now. And why hate anyways? I think they should do more research about live nation and understand that almost every big name band has played at a venue sponsored or owned by live nation. And whats their problem with live nation anyways, without them a lot of us wouldn't have experienced the shows we have in the past. I say good for Maine. People are hurting in this economy. If Maine believes 20,000 people will come to this new venue, and they will make a buck, go for it, its common sense. I think we are all tired of the haters and this thread. I'm done with this subject! Cant wait to arrive at Nateva and meet all the chill people that support this amazing festival.

I'm not a huge fan of Live Nation or anyone else having almost exclusive control over my entertainment. But, I live very near Oxford, we moved here about 6 or 7 years ago. I am really looking forward to having an amphitheater up here no matter who is behind it, nothing comes up here for music. And, everything is a haul for us even Greatwoods is a pretty good ride if you have to work the next day. Not to mention the area could use the money and jobs. I am pumped for Furthur they rocked Manchester and will rock Oxford even harder!

My name is Frank Chandler and the dream called 'Nateva Festival' started with me about 16 months ago. I am a husband, father, deadhead and businessman living in Massachusetts with a long term personal connection to Maine . It always seemed to me like there were lot's of music lovers north of Boston and for some reason most of the good music stopped before it got up to Maine, NH and VT. Great festivals only made it as far north as Bridgeport, CT. It just seemed there was a ton of demand for a top level festival up in Maine. I tripped over the guys that put together the Upnorth Festival in Hiram, ME at about the time I started to look into putting on a festival. They were young guys who while they had the heart, they never had the money necessary to make an event of this size successful, and as a result, at the conclusion of their event they owed money to vendors and contractors. In my mind, they had proven that people wanted an event like that, so I continued to move forward with my plans. I paid those guys to let me use their pictures on the new Nateva Website and bought the Upnorth email list of ticket buyers. I hired one of their promoters and their head of production (who runs production at the House of Blues in Boston) to help with Nateva. Since we weren't known in the music community, we hired Live Nation to book our talent. They control the flow of bands in New England and they seemed an appropriate company to handle our booking. The first act they signed for us was Furthur. They always acted professionally and did everything that they promised us that they would do. Our only relationship to Live Nation is that they handled our initial round of booking. I make no apologies for that decision and am pleased with our lineup. I hope you are too. Today we are a family business putting on the Nateva Festival, hopefully on an annual basis. Our money came from a small group of my friends, and their friends. We have a small team of committed people in the greater Boston area that are working 18 hours a day, seven days a week, to make this an extraordinary event for every one of you. We have never done anything like this before and there will no doubt be hiccups along the way, but be assured that we will continue to work hard to make this the best festival that we can, for everybody involved. People think it's strange that we communicate openly with all of you, shame on them. All we do is offer a little bit of customer service to you - our friends and customers. You ask questions and we try to answer them. Has the music industry so lost it's way that it's forgotten how to communicate with their own customers? People say that we chose the bands that that the fans cried out for on our Facebook site. Is that so terrible? Shouldn't we try to provide our customers with the music that they want to hear? Aren't they the customers, after all. This is a grassroots effort and it's all about all of you. That said, I'd appreciate it if you all didn't post my home address and contact info on the web or on the boards. I'm a little shy about my personal life, please respect it if you can. I hope to see you all in Maine this summer and my wife and kids thank you for your continued support of our family business, The Nateva Festival.
Warm Regards to You All,
Frank

Karma to you Frank.
It blows my mind how hands on you are with this whole thing. Sadly, it does seem like there's a disconnect between the people that put on these things and the folks that attend them. Hearing from the guy that started the whole thing is just crazy. I appreciate everything you've done to this point and everything it seems like you're trying to do to make this the best weekend/festival you can make it.
;D

^ As mentioned above, we are all very impressed with how well this first year festival is coming together. We appreciate all the feedback received and the positive buzz this festival has been generating over the past few months. Us here at the Nateva Proboards are doing our best to keep it that way. Were very impressed with the lineup so far and the communication between the organizers and the fans. It's obvious some folks are talking about how open Frank is with the fans. They act like its a bad thing. This goes to show that Nateva is set a part from the rest and gives us the fans a chance to help put together a magical experience. I have yet to see a festival fan base build so quickly with such a positive reaction. Being born and raise in CT and now living in NY, the northeast deserves a festival like Nateva to bring out the talented musicians who reside in this area. The people of this area are great people who are easy going, friendly, and love their fellow musicians. Maybe Nateva is a different breed of festivals, looking to provide pure positive vibes with experiences that will last a lifetime. Were all here to back this festival 100%, and plan to set a great example for festivals alike.

Once again Frank, thank you so much for everything you are doing! As noted by many, your communications with fans has been second to none. You are truly setting yourself up for success and I hope Nateva is able to be back year after year. Cant wait to see all your hard work come together this summer in Maine.

I also love that the fest claims to be able to accommodate 15,000 people on a 100 acre site. I think they need a lesson in measurement and area.

Visitor do you really have to be so negative? Would you prefer it if no one put on a festival in Maine? Or would you prefer it if they just did it for free so they dont have to "custy" people. Cant a guy run a business? You really have nothing left to complain about so you give him a hard time for making money from this festival.. brilliant work man. Since when are you a professional in measurement and area for laying out a festival??
