I feel like EOTO mite be a good latenight option, they arent anywhere near as much bump as a Bassnectar or Girltalk (yuk) and everyone show is complete improv and makes for a great dance party. Toots would be great too, never been disappointed by them.

Ok, thinking of bands that might actually play either an afternoon set or a latenight set, becuase at this point we're not getting any major headliner type bands, here is who I would like to see added:
Railroad Earth (latenight?) Les Claypool in any form (definite latenight) Cornmeal Grace Potter & the Nocturnals Assembly of Dust The New Deal Cold War Kids Man Man The Avett Brothers TV On The Radio Regina Spektor The Decemberists The Black Keys

Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers would be a great add, being local from MA. Saw them at Portcity Music Hall last fall in Portland ME, they were GREAT!!!

Lettuce
Lettuce
and more Lettuce! But the real lineup, not Soulive with Sam, Ryan and Nigel. For Lettuce to be truly great you have to add Adam Smirnoff, Erick Coomes, and, (hopefully), Rashawn. Neal doing the bass lines on the Hammond just sounds awful. Too much volume, too much distortion, no definition.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
the Wailers, Steel Pulse, Burning Spear (at least one).
Medeski, Martin, and Wood
Johnny A (this guy is one of the best guitarists on the planet, and he lives in Mass.)
Karl Denson
some jazz fusion (too many to list, if the organizers want suggestions, I have them!)
Average White band, Earth Wind and Fire (I know, I'm dreaming), or some other top shelf old school funk band. I realize that George Clinton fills that bill, almost. While George and co. are part of the original funk movement, they have evolved into "stoner funk".I am looking for tight funk, not sloppy funk.
Some decent Country. Not the current crap that is trying to pass itself off as Country, but some old school twangy authentic s**t.
Jerks of Grass. Maine based smokin' hot veteran bluegrass band. Fun and inexpensive.
King Memphis. Local kick-a** veteran rockabilly band. Again, great and inexpensive.
Rustic Overtones. Local and national.
Some hip-hop?
How about a well known 80's alternative band? Variety is the spice of life (and the key to a successful festival). There are several bands that fit in this category that are touring this summer. Please pick at least one.
Some straight jazz? Bonnaroo did it. Let's try a band and see how it goes. There is plenty of great talent available, and I would assume that some of that can be had at a reasonable price.
Some more blues? Too many to list, ranging from local to top shelf.
Punk? Plenty of local talent here.
Electronica? Again, lots of local, inexpensive talent.
Well, I suppose I have taken the suggestion idea too far, but I think that most of these ideas are doable, and some of them at a very low cost. If anyone is interested in more details, feel free to contact me.
Take care,
Matt
Medeski, Martin and Wood

Good idea on the straight jazz. A few years back I went to Vibes and they had a jazz act to kick off the final day of the fest, Sunday around 11am. Sunday mornings at fests tend to be a little slower to get started as everyone usually just partied their hardest on Saturday, so a nice jazz set was a great way to welcome the new day.

Bands that would make this New England Festival even MORE epic: (trying to mix it up a bit) Steve Kimmock Buckethead! Gorillaz (I dig 'em... sick show) Robert Plant? (will be in US starting tour a week later) Chris Hillman (or desert rose band?) The Roots Railroad Earth Les Claypool New Deal Common Mud Honey Tribal Jazz (John Densmore) Tower of Power The Black Keys Just some ideas... ;D

my first post...
At this point, since there's already so many suggestions, I'd be happy with Hot Tuna -- acoustic, electric, or both. Their schedule looks wide open for the weekend...and we could get a little Tuna/Furthur cross-over, for those of us who won't be flying out to Furthur Fest on Memorial Day
But also, looks like the Rhythm Devils (Mickey, Billy) have announced another festival show with Keller Williams on 7/18, so it would be great to see them together at this one too!
