The should have Bob Weir and 7 walkers play at the same time. On the same stage. with Phil Lesh. THIS would get me there!

Out of curiosity, what does the Thursday line-up usually look like? My three year old's favorite band is Edward Sharpe and I'd hate to buy the 3 day pass and end up missing them... but I also don't want to miss some of the band that my husband and I want to see, either.. hmm..

I'm kinda disappointed Edward Sharpe is probably going to be taking one of the preheadliner spots. its not really my cup of tea. other than that the lineup looks top notch

I really wanted to go this year....I went last year and had a good time but this lineup does not do much for me. compared to the Hangout Festival and Mountain Jam (which both cost less) I don't think it is really close. There are some good smaller acts and locals but really lacking in the headliners. Gregg Allman is great but not what i'd call a headliner...Allmans would've been nice...I really wanted MMJ or the Black Keys.

Well my first reaction was disappointment. The first name Thievery Corp., cool but not even on my radar for a headliner at Nateva. Then STS9 cool but not one of my fav's. Gregg Allman Band, nice. But now I'm three deep and nothing is wow yet. Then John Butler Trio the best yet for me (one I've been chasing). Then Bob Weir solo, hmm. I love me some Bobby but would rather see him with furthur or a full band. Ghostland, frigging awesome! Chris and Jackie, sweet. Randolph,7 walkers, keller, the new deal, EOTO, Mclovins, ZD, Strangefolk, RMB, Dopapod, ROC,Nate Wilson all sweet.
Its starting to look better to me. Theres some good stuff in there for me.
I think what would really put it over the top for me now would be the addition of Umphreys and Lotus.
All in all, still cant wait for August to celebrate life with you all. Viva Nateva!!

The headliner line looks weak. To me.....Furthur, Flaming Lips, and moe. pack a punch at the top of the line where STS9, Thievery Corp., and Gregg Allman seem less exciting/interesting.
Do I think all the people at the top of the card will put on great shows? Of course. But the headliners don't get me salivating like last year's did. To be fair.....pretty much every festival lineup is lacking in the headliner department.
That said - the rest of the lineup is really killer IMO. tons of amazing acts to see and a good mix. I'm really shocked (in a good way) to see Ghostland back. They musta liked it.
Weir will be awesome, Jackie Greene and Chris Robinson is a unique get for a festival, Robert Randolph always brings it hard, and the list is filled with great acts like Keller, Trombone Shorty, dave mason (legend), the new deal, etc.
I'm trying to make this festival work for me this year. We'll see as it gets closer. The venue was great and the acts here are awesome. I have faith the additions will be pretty solid as well.

It's true, no "whoa!! awesome!" moment when I saw the lineup (closest thing was the Chris Robinson/Jackie Green billing) but overall very solid... I expect a couple more solid acts, maybe another subheadliner and it'll end up going from being really good to awesome.
Could use a couple of the kind of unique adds like that of DBT and She and Him from last year... It's that kind of thinking that is what I really appreciate from a jam festival in this over crowded market. Maybe we could see The Decembrists or if smaller, DeVotchka added. A Passion Pit return would be awesome as well.

I've got a strange feeling that this year's lineup will not disappoint and the festival is going to be much better than last year's, which was great already. I think that the crowd will be great this year and I plan on having an awesome time. See you guys there!

At this point he really couldn't say anything else. I know people who bought tickets and were already selling them yesterday. They clearly need to add some more big name acts.

This lineup, although less populated with bs indie acts like last year, is lacking incredibly hard in the headliner department. Throwing the caged-in narc fest that they did last year and then coming with a lineup like this makes it very hard for me and a lot of people I know to spend hard earned money to come back (and I live 45 minutes away). I had fun last year but they really had some heavy hitters in the headliner/pre-headliner departments. The "first year festival syndrome" that everyone has been using as an excuse for last years shortcomings isn't validated by this initial artist announcement. If the caliber/selection of music is this much worse (in my opinion) then how is the overall atmosphere going to be better. I don't know about everyone else but I don't want to be herded to a tiny camping spot under a flood light to see John Butler Trio or STS9 headlining the festy.

"Caged-in narc fest" lol......that's a funny one. I had a great time last year. So did many others. Never really any problems.

Sometimes tour kids get shocked that laws still exist inside of a festival. There really werent that many arrests at Nateva. It is foolish and shows a complete lack of common sense and responsibility to blame a festival for people who get in trouble with the law.
I know for a damn fact that you're NOT better off or "safer" in a festival environment if you're planning on going to Tennessee, West Virginia, Connecticut or Arkansas. The southern states in particular are hardcore with their enforcement and there is an endless stream of horror stories coming out of all those festivals each year. Wakarusa for example moved for a bunch of reasons but one main reason was that the authorities in Kansas had no interest in having a music festival of that nature in their town/state and they made it difficult for everyone. Did any of you see the arrest sheet coming from that festival last year?!!! Something like 90 arrests which is pretty high considering All "Hood" only had like 9 arrests in 2009. Go check the youtube video on the waka arrests from last year. I am not up to any shifty business or anything but their sheriff makes me want to avoid Arkansas at all costs.
To put it bluntly if you can't handle your sh.it at a festival and you act like it is a complete free for all, you really should count on getting in trouble eventually. Just be smart and responsible with whatever you are doing and you're not likely to have any troubles. The people I have talked to that said something about Nateva being sketchy did not give off a vibe of being particularly smart or responsible about things...

I don't mean to be too negative as I DID have a lot of fun last year. This was due ONLY to the great lineup of music that was assembled (which I know is the center of discussion on this thread) and to great people. The sunday lineup alone was enough to draw me in (Furthur not being the biggest draw for me) The circumstances surrounding the camping and security were unnacceptable in my eyes for such an expensive show. If we're all gonna put up with some of the less attractive aspects of your festival I think that nateva should at least get some major headliners. Not one of these acts save maybe Gregg Allman is worthy of a main stage headline for a $200+ event. Was honestly expecting Widespread Panic or full on Allman Bros Band, maybe even some Primus. Don't want to be a debbie downer but was hoping for a lot more funk too. We don't even get any Royal Family anything, Boo.

PS I don't sell drugs or do them and I'm not a tour kid. I just love music and know what I like at a festival.

Pretty let down with this lineup. Gregg Allman as a headliner? Really? Couldnt have gotten the entire Allman Brothers Band? I can enjoy STS9, but there is now way they are not even close to headliner material in my opinion. Combine the lack of worthwhile headliners with a lack of depth in the rest of the lineup (read: No Umphreys, no Moe., no Yonder Mountain, ect) and I am not too impressed. Hate to be a debbie downer, just stating my opinion. To be fair I think Bob Weir acoustic will be a hell of a treat, 7 Walkers is a very cool sounding band, and Keller Williams is always fun. So barring some sort of extreme round of artist additions, I will not be making the trek out to Maine again this Summer. Hence, I will likely not be around this message board too often. So have fun Nateva'ers, and maybe I will see you in 2012....Peace

Gregg Allman is not a headliner. He's on Saturday right before Thievery Corp.

Check out this link... www.gatheringofthevibes.com/HomeWhyyyyyyyyyyy Nateva Whyyyyyyyyyy, Why can't you keep the bar up as high as you did last year. A few weeks before nateva, Vibes is packing Furthur, Jane's Addiction, Elvis Costello, moe, Levon Helm, Rhythm Devils, Tedeski Trucks, Dr. John, Taj Mahal among a solid under card and god knows who else will be announced. These bands alone are worth the 205 bucks. I'm not the biggest fan of seaside park but think I'll be taking my nateva dollars to the ghetto of bridgeport this year with the deadheads instead.

Agreed but you can't expect any festival to be a Tyson knockout every time, Vibes has been through it as well. Maybe Nateva flew too close to the sun on wings of pastrami like George did. It will be a great time this year anyway, no trifecta, but definitely sensual.
