Whats up again my peoples. I thought i would create this thread to see what everyone's opinions were on glow sticks at festivals. If used correctly they are a really cool and trippy site to see when thousands are throw into the air at shows. "Into the air" being the key words there. NOT TOWARDS THE STAGE OR AT THE BAND PLAYING! It's out of respect ya know. Seeing Meth and Red last year at moe.down having to stop the show to tell people to stop throwing them on stage is not right, they were getting hit it the face. There is a difference between throwing them upwards and whipping them. Anyways, I'm looking on eBay now and found a case of 1000 for around 40 bucks. If permitted by Nateva(some venues don't allow them) i was thinking we could get a bunch of us to buy a case or what we can afford(they come in 200ct, 500ct, 1000ct, 5000ct ect.) and make Nateva a "GLOW STICK RAGING PARTY"! Let me know what you guys think.

I am one for the glostix! They make it a lot of fun. Also helps my friends keep tabs on me so i don't get lost for good don't like those who throw glostix on stage! i mean think about it what is your reaction when you see one coming at you?? doesn't take much common sense to realize you shouldn't throw them on stage!!

I'm all for glow sticks as well as long as they're not being thrown at the stage or other people (although, I've never really run into any issues with that last part). I think a lot of the problem is people get caught up in the moment and don't even realize what problems they could be causing by tossing them up on stage. Also, as long as they're the skinny ones. Those thick ones can get a bit sketchy as well... taking one of those to the dome can't feel too nice.
If we find out that Nateva's cool with glow sticks, I've got no problem buying a shiznitton of them as well. I don't have much that I'll need to get for this festival season, so I could probably spare some cash for glow sticks to share with my fellow festival goers. I love leaving the stage areas when everything's closing down at night and seeing what all people have created with their glow sticks. I remember seeing a ton of pictures and messages all over the ground at Rothbury last year... tripped me out. It's just another way for us to add our own little bit of art to the fest.

please, remember, glow sticks are BAD (ouch!) Glow necklaces, bracelets, etc... are GREAT (ohhh, pretty colors!) I'm gonna slightly disagree with you there. If you're going to throw glow sticks, my general rule is that the emphasis should be on throwing them vertically and not horizontally. Glow sticks that are thrown more up hurt significantly less when they land on your head than glow sticks thrown hard across the crowd. They have basically no mass, so if they land on you it's no big deal, but if you get one whipped at your face, it's no fun.

I think what kincade is trying to say is... Glow necklaces, bracelets, etc... GOOD!Glow sticks... BAD!Which I agree with completely. Throwing the first type... not an issue. Throwing the second type... not so cool.

Yep... save those for hanging on tent lines and the like. They usually have little hooks on them and everything. Just don't throw them at me... I hate waking up to mystery bruises and bumps and having to try and remember what the Hell happened that I have it/them. ;D

www.windycitynovelties.com/12195p/12-inch-glowing-beach-balls.html?s_cid=FRO12195These are awesome, and soft if they do hit anyone, and at least the ball can be reused. I handed out about 50 or so of these at GOTV last year. There are many different sites offering them now, different styles, can get them in balls for different sports. They also make an excellent lantern type light source for tents or whatever, a very pretty, soft light.

Ahh... I still say that even with the glow bracelets/necklaces, throw them up and don't whip them through the crowd. But don't throw the big ones either way!

Glow sticks are a must and anyone that says no to glowsticks must have a glowstick up there butt lol. I always bring 200 to every festival i go to , If you have a micheals crafts near you they sell braclet tubes 15 in a tube for a dollar . I alwasy spend 30 dollars . Thats 450 6'' blaclets . Not a bad deal . You can do anything with these things. They are for saftey, fun , enjoyment and something to give away to someone that isnt glowing . I mostly see micheals crafts in CT , where i from

i went to summercamp this past weekend and these people that were camped a few tents down hated glostix. we wanted to make a hopscotch with them and they got crazy mad. we made other litte things with the glostix in front of our camp and they wanted us to take move them down further. when we didn't they got mad. they didn't even ask in a nice manner. just rude and hateful about it. they ended up going down and breaking up what we made with us standing right there. so the next night we made a hopscotch path from the path to our tent and thought about putting it to there tent when we went to bed so everybody would come up to theirs. haha but we didn't.
