The Boston, MA-based Passion Pit began as a one-man project of singer and songwriter Michael Angelakos to produce a Valentine's Day gift for his girlfriend. The gift, an EP entitled Chunk of Change, soon wound up in the hands of friends and acquaintances, who were enthralled with the work. Eventually, Passion Pit became not only a vehicle for the romantic expressions of Angelakos' heart but a full-fledged band -- at least for live gigs -- and opened for a number of well-known artists including Death Cab for Cutie. This momentum led to label interest, and in 2008 the Frenchkiss label picked up Chunk of Change for re-release, even going so far as to tack on two bonus tracks. A full-length from Passion Pit was in the planning stages and a 2009 release date was said to be in the cards. The full length LP titled "Manners" in May 2009.This band is blowing up big in a very short time. I saw them at Bonnaroo last year and they were pretty good live. I look forward to seeing how they do at Nateva.

Now that the new Passion Pit album Manners has hit the shelves, we're proud to present some of our home video footage of the PS22 Chorus's day in the studio with Passion Pit. This was recorded by Miss Lisa on January 16, 2009 , a pretty amazing day for all concerned. And the results speak for themselves on the CD. The kids sing on 3 tracks on Manners including the The Reeling (first single off the new album), Little Secrets (soon to be a single as well), and one of the album's sorta ballad, Let Your Love Grow Tall. We're very proud of our involvement.
There's 7 parts in total on Youtube....It's pretty interesting stuff. The chorus helped record 3 songs on Passion Pit's album and it's really cool seeing the lead singer work with the kids and try and record the little parts.
The two videos above were them working on the song "Little Secrets" with the studio version below:

These guys rock, after getting the chance to see them now I realize how much of a fool I was for ignoring them. Serious dance party!
I know what your thinking, you dont like that guys voice, your not a fan of dudes singing in falsetto. I dont blame you, I typically am not a fan either. Give these guys a shot this summer at Nateva and I promise it will be one of your favorite sets. They just had one of the best reviewed shows from Coachella this year.

Yes, they did kill at roo last year! Maybe we jammed together. lol I can't wait to see them at Nateva. I also just found out they're going to be at a smaller venue here in Charlotte on 6/11. Definitely planning on seeing them there as well!

I just played Sleepyhead for Raven last night and she gave this look like, 'um no mom, I am NOT going to listen to THAT!' I think it's the falsetto that she didn't like much. I, on the other hand, am really digging their sound and can't wait to hear them. Maybe I'll throw her to hubby so I can dance and they can go listen to something else or head back to the tent for a bit.

Took me a little while. They should be a decent show at the festival though.

I first heard of this band last year some time and didn't really give them any consideration. I think the name sounded too emo to me, just to show how shallow I am haha. Anyway I'm pretty excited to see them after listening to some of their stuff. Definitely not on the top of my Nateva list, but I'll check them out for sure.

Watched one of their videos and liked what I heard. I'll check them out. So now that I know I'm doing Passion Pit > Ghostland Observatory > moe. I have to figure out when my afternoon break will be. I'm either taking off for Dylan or Greene. Want to see both but I know I can't do the whole day at the stage.

So I have I took what you said into consideration as well as what other people have had to say about PP. I have listened to them on youtube a bit over the last few weeks. And I must say, I dig a lot of it. I am Grateful Dead/classic rock guy, but I like this Passion Pit sound a lot. I just may have to check them out on Friday at Nateva. ;D

Basically once these guys booked Nateva, I told myself I had to go to the fest, as weird as that sounds I freakin love these guys. It is an acquired taste I agree I wasn't too crazy for them, but once I started listening to them more I couldn't stop. I'm so pumped!

I skipped over them to catch People Under the Stairs or something at Bonnaroo last year, but their show on the DVD looked pretty fun. I can't stand that voice, but I'll definitely give 'em a go.

Saw these guys last Friday night and it was such a fun show. I saw them last year at Bonnaroo, and they've gotten sooooo much tighter and better in one year it's not even funny. This show is going to be amazing and I can't wait to see them again.

They are playing a free show this saturday in Boston at the new Royale venue that recently opened up. Too bad tickets were all snagged up in 1 minute.
