So we have the opportunity to host a "hooping workshop" at Nateva. I have a couple questions. First, who would like to be involved? We need a few people willing to lead this.
Second, how would this actually be organized? These are my initial thoughts, but they're just thoughts: On Saturday (probably early afternoon) a few folks could lead a workshop showing some basic techniques and maybe a couple advanced techniques. On Sunday, we could potentially have a "hooping contest" for folks who want to sign up. I think we may be able to offer a prize to the winner. We might need folks to be willing to bring additional hoops for folks to use if they're not hoopers, if possible.
Anyways, what do people think? Let me know! Thanks!

I think a hooping workshop would be great! I would definitely be interested in taking it. And I have a bunch of hoops that I would be willing to bring with me for other people to use. I don't think I have enough experience to lead it, but I would be willing to help out in any way I can. I think it would be fun to get a bunch of hoopers and new to hooping folks together for fun!

I would be able to help on sunday with the contest or whatever takes place. I too am not got enough to lead anything but would be willing to help out any way I can.
Perhaps if we can't find people to lead maybe we could just have a open hoop session/workshop of some sort. I'm sure there will be plenty of people there to take lead and show new tricks.
I too can bring some hoops but like I said I won't be able to until sunday.

I'm pretty sure you guys are talking about hoop embroidery but all I can picture is some tree hugging hippies taking hula hoops class (not that there's anything wrong with that). ;D

That's a really good idea boo! Everyone knows something different They could take the opportunity to show something that maybe they can do, but others can't and may want to know how to do.

Hey all~ Super Psyched for the Fest coming up!!! and super SuPeR pysched to see this thread!!! I'm stoked to see y'all putting this fest on and would love to be a part of it all, it is going to be an amazing fabulous weekend no doubt I would be so HaPpY to lead a hooping playshop- with some help of course! I'm totally comfortable in hosting a beginner's and intermediate session and maybe for advanced we could have an All Levels 'hoop jam' or something where we can just trade tricks-- I teach hoop in NH and have led a few workshops.... Would love to be able to spin fire late night too--- is this a possibility??

So is there any "official" word on a hoop workshop yet? Time? Place? Who, what where, when? If nothing else, it would be really cool to get all the hoopers together for some sort of a hoop jam at some point.

The more informal, the better, I think. hoopstah: I'd be happy to give you a hand doing this if you're interested... PM me if you'd like! I'm not so keen on the idea of a hooping competition... I don't want to speak for the entire hooping community, but competitions are a little contrary to the spirit of hooping! Maybe like a "how long can you hoop for" contest would be fun, but I don't know about a performance contest... but that's just me! I know Nateva is having fire spinners there but I don't think you can just spin on your own... you might try meeting the fire spinners during the day (if there's a Wormtown vending tent, that's where one troup will be, these guys: cosmickarmafire.com/) and they might let you spin w. them at night.

Hey guys, I personally am not a hooper, but my gf is really into so I checked out this thread. I think a smart idea would be to look at the map posted on this forum and to pick a specific place and time where everyone can meet up, possibly a central location where people who arent on the forum will be attracted to. Anyway have fun hooping, I'm sure I will be watching with wonderment

im down for a hoop jam! need time and place. near the yoga classes would be cool, like a central moving meditation station. not sure where those will be held yet though...i have a plethora of hoops i can bring and gift out to people that would be great for beginners. if this really is going down i will make sure to pack them!
