The Activities section on the website no longer lists shuttles to a nearby lake for swimming; is that a no-go now?

They had to cancel the lakes being available because of liability. Too many poisonous snakes and alligators in the waters to let people haphazardly wade in.

Liability makes sense... Wait whoa, there are seriously alligators in Maine ?! I didn't know they existed up north.

Well a little googling tells me that A) alligators live down south only and B) Maine is one of the few states generally without venomous snakes. I should stop being so gullible... I'd imagine liability is the issue though. I just thought it was a really spiffy idea, bummer that/if it got nixed. Maybe one of these: nateva.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=logistics&action=display&thread=173 is walk-able?

Sweet ! Definitely sounds like something to try to make time for if I wake up early some morning/if we get up to Oxford early enough on Thursday. Karma for you techie, I feel like you end up answering all of my questions on here ! EDIT: jimbo, any chance you have room for a bike in your car? I'm thinking I may try to find room for mine, that'd make the trek a bit faster

I bet a local cab would be happy to drive you and your friends to the nearby lake for $10. Beautiful lakes around Oxford, no snakes, just beautiful water.

Insurance is a problem. Somehow the festival is responsible if somebody drowns. I can't figure out why, but we can't get it done. I'd split a $5 cab ride with friends and head over. It's the lakes region and there are some sweet swimming spots nearby. If the weather is nice you'll have fun at the lakes.

would it be possible to do a little fishing if there are any lakes or ponds around? If you buy a fishing license. Pretty sure they sell day or 3 day licenses
