Wow, I am glad to see this thread. Can someone from Nateva give a verdict on this? A mini keg holds 1.3 gallons or thirteen 12 oz beers. It is environmentally friendly because homebrewers like myself reuse them. The ones that don't get reused can be recycled in the same way you'd recycle a 12 oz can. If they are not to be allowed I'd like to ask (before-hand) for the reasoning behind it. I hope Nateva isn't as inflexible on this count as it is on the parking situation.

I have some Gritty's (maine's best brewed & bottled beer) mini kegs ready to go... let it be yes....I would think it's just a big can of beer right?

He is not. With only 20 some-odd says left b4 the festival I am sure the Nateva folks are pretty busy and not as able to get on here as much. Hopefully once this festival goes down successfully they will be able to bring on more staff to head up online things and answering peoples questions/concerns - sounds like a job for me :-)

Cute or not..... kegs, mini kegs and beerballs are a no-no. Sorry, they aren't allowed.

No mini kegs? What's the logic behind this anyways? I couldn't help but notice that you didn't respond to my question posted earlier on this thread.

We are inflexible on many fronts. We think that we need to be when working with 15,000 customers, 400 employees and more than 200 volunteers. Add to that town officials from 2 towns, the state Fire Marshall, County Sheriff and the STATE LIQUOR INSPECTORS. We make 87 decisions every day. Some of them are right and other will be proven to be wrong. If we stop to debate and justify each decision, with the large number of people that we serve, we'd never make the decisions or get anything done. We are doing the best that we can and are working hard to bring the best possible event to Maine this Summer. We let you bring beer, buy beer and drink beer. The way we see it.... there's nothing left to do but smile, smile smile.

I have no idea where knee jerk reactions like this come from. Where is the consistency here? I can bring in half gallons of hard liquor but I can't bring in a 1 gallon beer can? If you stop to debate and justify decisions with real thought you might conclude that a half gallon of hard liquor is way more potent than a gallon of beer. Use some common sense for cryin' out loud! This is like saying you can bring hand grenades but not fire crackers.

I doubt it's about potency. I think it's more about the weight and density of that mini keg could possibly be used as a weapon....? I know that the half gallon is required to be plastic. This is of course, just a guess.
