Instant Message?

I was trying to find a way to get in instant contact with someone on here earlier and couldnt find a real way to do it. Obviously there is the chat, but if the other person doesnt know you are trying to get ahold of them it is useless. The personal message option is OK but the Inbox notification is not very noticeable unless you are looking. Is there an instant message option that can be added? Or a way to make the Inbox much more obvious, or a way to make a pop-up window come up when you receive or have a new message?

I'll have to look into an "instant message" option for Proboards. I'm not sure if they have one but i'll research it.

However, if you want to be alerted when a message comes there are two options. You go into the preferences of your PMs and can either have a box pop up on the screen when you log in and have new messages or an e-mail sent to you when you get a PM. Of course, you could also do both!

I'll look into this but not sure what i'll find.

I'm not aware of any Instant Messaging option. I'd recommend the pop-up Inbox option, which you should be able to do yourself in your profile. Hopefully that helps!

If you have access to the CSS/html to this forum, you should be able to add a chat box. I just did it on mine. maineghosts.lefora.com/
We use it for day to day, but for the most part we use it when big events are happening and there is much to discuss. There is a PM option as well if you'd like to trail off privately away from the group.

We're trying to figure out a few things with the board right now. If there's an ability to add a "chat" area on the main page, I'm sure we'll talk about that. I don't know if it's possible (haven't seen one on the other probards that I've been on) but who knows. Good suggestion though!
