Yeah our crew has done that at Phish shows. We have used inflatable animals from the dollar store. It helps during mass exodus to keep all of us going to the same direction. Its nice to know if you are lost and need a friend.. look for the parrot. follow the parrot to the car.. pass out

Well other than the fact that they are so freakin awesome, and fun to make, most people make them so its easier to find their camp site. My friend and I made/set up out flag for rothbury and its called " Happy Ending" (we are both massage therapists) but if we bring it this year we need to make a bigger flag and a better setting up technique... he just doesnt it know it yet, lol

I was camped really close to the "Happy Ending" flag at Rothbury! I was always curious about whether I could get one ;D

The grounds for this festival are so small that if you get lost you deserve to wander for a while. Rothbury was camping around 45,000 people. Nateva will have around 7,000. Big difference there.
If you get lost it's because of the state of your mind. And in that case being lost is usually kind of fun. Unless of course people are following you. And chances are nobody is really following you, you're imaging it, just like that little smiling pink bear that keeps poking his head out from behind every car you pass.

I've never had a flag of my own. I usually just look for someone else's flag who is close to my campsite lol.

Even though the camping grounds are much smaller then other festies, it's not just about you finding your own campgrounds. It's very helpful for others trying to find you. But mostly, it's all about flair and expressing yourself. Let me ask you a question, what do you think about a person that only does the bear minimum? Everyone look out for my Giant Floating Glowing Turtle.

I'm in need of a flag. Been doing the festival scene for a while now, and I feel like a flag would really make me an official festival goer.
How does one make a flag? What do you make it out of I mean? I detest sewing so I guess I'll have to use paint, but whats a good medium? Not just cotton cloth I'm assuming. Any suggestions?

I like to use left over material that i have.. (I make patchwork clothing), My serger and some pins. I use a couple sheets of wax paper and make the shape of a flag, laying them down next to each other. Draw the picture you would like on the wax paper. (remember easy shape = easy cutting and sewing!!) Then with the scrap fabric, just start matching fabric that would go here or there making the picture you want. Then I pin and serge the fabric peices and use a tight zig-zag pattern with my machine. once the appliqué is done I sew the edges to a "gator cloth" its a marine fabric for boat covers its light and its waterproof! I will post a pic when im done. Im in the sewing and pinning phase now, plus I went to Phish last night and im pooped and no way possible can i pay attention to details like that There are easier ways of doing it im sure! But this is the way I have been doing for a while and the last a long long time

I won't have a flag, but will have pinwheels, and spinning hanging things and such all in red white and blue at our camp site. I just discovered a bunch of 4th of July decorations in the garage, so I'm going to bring them to decorate with.
