For me, one of the highlights at last years Rothbury was heading back to camp after the main stage closed and finding Umph playing an unscheduled set along the way. What do you think the odds of seeing a surprise night set from them are? Very low. They are scheduled during the afternoon because they need to catch a flight later that evening to get across the country for their show the next day. So sadly....I doubt it.

I hope the odds are good for other bands doing stealth sets...the unexpected is what makes festies extra special!

Where did they play an unexpected set at Rothbury last year? They had two scheduled sets, one on Saturday night after the Dead and another on Sunday right after Dylan. This is the first I have heard of an unscheduled Umphreys set. Now I did hear about an unscheduled Lotus set in the forest at one point, but nothing about UM.

The Sunday night set wasn't "unscheduled," but it wasn't announced until right before the festival. I know that a lot of people didn't know about it when they got to Rothbury.

Pretty much 0% chance of a secret Umphreys show, as they have stuff to get to out at red rocks. There def. could be some other cool surprises that come up though, keep your eyes and ears open

I'm looking at the schedule they gave me as I entered Rothbury last year. Nobody was scheduled at the Ranch Arena after Dylan. The only acts left on the schedule at that point were Alex B and Big Gigantic at Tripolee. To us, the festival was over, and we headed back to our campsite... GDTRFB. What a surprise it was to hear Umphrey's playing as we rounded the corner! Our celebration was going to last a little longer! What a way to cap off the festival! Since they weren't on the schedule, they were "unscheduled" If something like that happens this year, I hope to see a thread giving me a "heads up". Is that what happened last year... was the 2nd Umph show announced somewhere online?

It was announced via email and the Rothbury website before the festival. They didn't have time to re-print all of the schedules. Honestly, I would've preferred not knowing about the show until I got to Rothbury. My main complaint about Rothbury 09 was the lack of surprises when compared to 08. Either way, though, it was cool to have that "nightcap" after Dylan.

Still a great time nonetheless. It's beyond me why some people hate on Umphrey's, they are just so good. When they played Comfortably Numb during their Sunday set, my face melted.

I think you're missing a huge option.... the umphreys secret show could happen on thursday. they play weds in wisconsin, will be flying to maine thurs... they'll be around, why not?? thurs lineup is only 3 bands, plenty of room for a secret show

I'd LOVE for it to happen but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I don't think they want to go too late on Thursday but if for some crazy reason this happened.....I'd probably crap my pants.
