I was just wondering if any one has been introduced to some new bands from this festival? For example, i had no idea that bands like She and Him and the felice brothers.... no offense to any one please... even existed. I am SOOO glad this festival is happening because now i am in an alternate universe and i am glad to be here. This has opened my "eye" to a whole different dimension of music. The main reason why i was going in the first place was for Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, but now i am going for almost every band that is playing. i have been listening to them non stop for the past 5 months, pumping the soul with nothing but this river of flowing sounds. I am in the worshiping stage now and i just want to know where other people are and if they were introduced to other bands as well and if so what makes you like them or dislike them... hopefully no dislikes but everyone has their own opinions ;D
P.S only 8 dayz left ;D

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER HEARD OF THE FELICE BROTHERS!?!?!?!
just kidding......not many have heard of them.
I discovered them at Bonnaroo myself. Basically what I do is look up bands that are on the schedule/lineup of a festival i'm going to and listen to some of their stuff. Then I decide if i'll see their show or not. A lot of the music I listen to has spawned from seeing bands at a festival and really liking them. Flaming Lips I got into after seeing them live at Roo.
For Nateva, I already liked/knew about a lot of the bands so that's a plus....but some bands I've gotten into more because of this festival and Mountain Jam are: Lettuce, Drive-By Truckers, The McLovins, and EOTO.
There are also some bands who I haven't listened a lot to but am interested in catching them at Nateva like Max Creek, Moonalice, Rustic Overtones, Lotus, etc.
I haven't been able to really get into Grizzly Bear.....i've listened to a few albums a few times and it's just too slow or sleepy for me......I want to catch them live before saying I dislike them....but I thought I'd enjoy their stuff based on everything I've read about them.
I love festivals because you can find some of your favorite stuff there.
Oh, one more thing, Don't miss the Felice Brothers. They are amazing. I'm so excited for both sets.[/b]

BAHAHHAHAHA... lol sorry monkeys, But yah i am deff going to hit up their show. they remind me so much of Dylan, i dont know why, i think its their vocals and stories i guess. they are deff poets i believe. But yah i agree with grizzly bear also, them and others, I'm not really a huge tech band fan either, but i dont really know until i am there being pounded by it :-)... My sister went to Mountain Jam this year to see the Avett Brothers and while she was there she fell in love with Grace Potter and the Noc. so i am so stoked to keep an optimistic mind and let everything just flow into me!
P.S how was roo? i hear A LOT of good things and i would really like to hit that up some year!

BAHAHHAHAHA... lol sorry monkeys, But yah i am deff going to hit up their show. they remind me so much of Dylan, i dont know why, i think its their vocals and stories i guess. they are deff poets i believe. They definitely get Dylan comparisons. They also get compared to The Band. Ian (lead singer, main song writer) definitely sounds like Dylan in some of his vocals. He sounds older then he is. And their songs are really good when you check the lyrics and stuff. Songs about all different subjects. Penn Station is about the architect who designed Penn Station and died poor, Frankie's Gun is supposedly loosely about Frank Nitti the old Chicago henchman of Al Capone. Ambulance Man comes from one of their brother's experience as an ambulance driver/EMT in Coney Island. There are story songs like Cooperstown which can transport you to the old days of american baseball glory....... Goddamn You Jim is a haunting tale about a farmer couple losing their child and the mother being devastated by it.....and they convey that in like 8 lines. One of my favorites of all time is Ballad of Lou the Welterweight, the story about a boxer who dies in the ring. I could go on and on about their songs and how awesome each one is. I didn't go this year for crappy reasons.....but the positive that came out of skipping this year was that I got to do Mountain Jam and discover Nateva.....so it's a blessing in disguise. I have hit up Roo the last 5 years and love it (even though it's super hot and filled with TONS of people). I want to go back next year but need to wait and see what the lineups look like.

I have been introduced to MANY new bands because of the Nateva lineup. Some I really really like - EOTO, Lips, Passion Pit, GO, the list goes on. Some, I just can't seem to get into - She and Him, Grizzly, etc. I'm going in with an open mind though. Maybe I just haven't heard the 'right' songs by the ones I'm not overly fond of. I bought my tickets because Further was playing and DBT and moe., but most of the bands that are playing I had never heard of. I am looking forward to being there, checking out some new bands and falling in love with someone I've never heard before.
