It's definitely a good question to ask......seeing as not many of use knew it would be happening. Someone posted it on the Facebook page as well asking the question.
Not sure how close they will be to Nateva campers or how it will affect anything but I'm sure the Nateva officials know all about it and will clear up the details soon.

I'm not too worried about any fights breaking out. I'm just wondering how everything will work out....like will the Nateva stuff be off to the side away from the races...or will they be close....not really sure.

by the way, don't mean to offend locals if i did, never considered 'redneck' an insult (especially if you consider the history of the term) but i know some people do, it's just a way to describe rural folk that are set in their ways of trying to live a hassle free life away from the city. i also know you can bring your family to a racing event and not get hassled... i myself enjoyed many races/tractor pulls as a kid and adult. you can usually bring your family peacefully because the people that are rowdy and getting into brawls don't bother the children. being at these types of events, i've seen a lot of out of control people oh so many fights, on top of that we're talking about the 3rd of July where EVERYONE is going to be partying hard, and you can't tell me racing fans won't be interested in intermingling by the thousands of people that have been raging it all weekend. hell, most of the hassle the cops will have to deal with will probably be festival and not race related. but there will be conflict if there is still a race scheduled, i can almost guarantee that I'm one of the redeneck locals that occasionally likes to catch a race at the track In fact, I'm bringing my little brother to the track tomorrow for a "motor mayhem" event. I'm not going to say that there is absolutely 0% chance of a local getting belligerent with festi-goers, just like I can't say there's 0% chance that I'm going to be hit by a freight train on my way home; however, I assure you a good majority of the population around here is pretty laid back, especially those that enjoy the simple things like a night at the track with their family... OPS has always been a rather family oriented speedway... I'm fairly certain no one will have to worry about being accosted by any locals attending the races. They're there to enjoy themselves at the races just as much everyone that is there to enjoy themselves for the festival. When it comes to travel delays, I'm sure that the shuttles will be delayed a bit right after the fireworks, traffic is always a nightmare getting out of the raceway after the display every year. That said, I'd just suggest you either plan to get up to the venue before the fireworks start if you don't plan on watching the display, or just be prepared to sit on the shuttle in traffic for a little bit after the fireworks are over. As far as noise goes, I'm not positive which plot of land they plan on using for the camp sites; however, any of the spots they could use are well within earshot of the races. Heck, I live about 8 miles away and I can hear the races if I'm outside during a race night. The races usually last until about 10:00PM. This may be different depending on if they stop between race events for the fireworks or if they just finish all of the race events and then shoot off the fireworks.

it's also not so much the population as a whole that i would predict would start a ruckus, it's the groups of local teens and 20-somethings that will be partying hard all weekend and looking to intermingle. when we were under 21 if we had something like this in our backyard we would've been swiping coolers left and right for booze. i assume a good majority of the race fans will have no interest in the festival or they would already be there, they'll be more pissed off at the traffic leaving the place than the people camping in the lot I'm one of the redeneck locals that occasionally likes to catch a race at the track In fact, I'm bringing my little brother to the track tomorrow for a "motor mayhem" event. OPS has always been a rather family oriented speedway... I can not recall ever going to the speedway and seeing anyone who was over the limit or even visibly inebriated... I'm fairly certain no one will have to worry about being accosted by any locals attending the races. They're there to enjoy themselves at the races just as much everyone that is there to enjoy themselves for the festival. In fact I think the most aggression I've seen at the speedway is actually on the track when a driver ignores a red flag or some such deal. i guess teh whole question of "are there races" could be answered by one of us calling the speedway number listed on their site. would've done it already if i wasn't at work.

I'm assuming there will be races since they advertise fireworks on the schedule and I know Nateva has mentioned that the speedway will do Fireworks on the 3rd. But I honestly don't know yet.

Even though I'm camped onsite, I'm hoping that everything works out so that everyone is happy camper, literally. I'm guessing that since the dead shows back in 88' had over 100,000 people, there will be ample space for both the speedway races and the 4,000-8,000 off-site campers.
I'm also pretty sure I read that you need to have an offsite wristband to enter these campgrounds, meaning it will be fenced off from the general public, hopefully, eliminating any fights that may have occured.
I'm positive the Nateva personel knew about the races, and has planned accordingly. Here's to having a little faith, and having a great weekend.
