Sorry of the confusion. Basically, if you have a topic that you think would be interesting for discussion, post it. However, posting about drama on another board isn't really relevant to this board. My impression was that the only point of that thread was to cause more drama over here. If that's not the case, then let me know, but that's how it appeared. Plus, you directly went in conflict with the Proboards TOS again by swearing. That's pretty straightforward.
The stance of this board is that we welcome other festivals and fans of other festivals. The mods of this board are all here because we were originally fans of other festivals. We don't want to start any trouble with the GOTV forum, and we're going to do what we can here to minimize that type of drama. If you have questions about that, please PM me or another mod and we'll do our best to address your concerns.

I don't see why it was a problem since I'm a member of many forums dedicated to music festivals (like Inforoo, Mountain Jam forum, etc). I didn't think you did anything wrong but people over there were upset and thought you were just spamming the board. They also took what you and I said about the Vibes and tried to make it seem like we were trashing the festival. Really, I had no idea but have heard things and was curious to know some info. You answered and I didn't think anyone was being especially negative. Oh well. |

Honestly I told it like it is about Vibes. I didnt glorify anything or make up any lies. I have been to 5 GOTV - not just the ones in BPT people. I have seen the festival change, I am not willing to say the change has anything to do with the current location, but anyone who says it isnt different now is lying to you. The nitrous in the campground has been appalling, worse than any festival I have seen that cant be denied. The real problem was that 2 years ago Vibes staff openly admitted they had a problem with the Nitrous and would work to fix it.. it only got worse. They have been trying, I will give them that.. but have yet to make any difference. These people all forget that I LOVE the Gathering of the Vibes, I am not trying to trash it but I am not going to lie to people about it either.

last year at vibes was fun - i went with chefchick from inforoo - we had a blast.
that said, it's sketchy. no doubt. bridgeport really sucks, the no2 was out of control... some dude OD'ed in the campgrounds.
buuuuuuuuut: free showers and a walk along the beach every day to the fest = good times.

I have never heard of a fest with an NO2 problem 2. My guess is that Nateva will have the exact same sketch that the Vibes gets - it is the same fan base and the same geographic area. Yes, Virginia, there will be N2O at Nateva 3. while it is a sad an horrible thing, only one OD over 14 years and hundreds of thousands of attendees is actually a stellar track record. Dude you clearly do not get it. The problem is almost completely due to a lack of enforcement of Vibes' rules of NO nitrous. If anytime in the last two years they had actually been proactive and shut the nitrous down, there wouldnt have been so many problems. Sure Nateva will have some of the same crowd, but they are completely prepared to keep it out, unlike Vibes. I am not sure why you are bringing up the death, its not like people are saying Vibes is a bad festival because of that. People were discussing everything that happened at Vibes in a Vibes specific thread and that came up. Im not going to sugar coat vibes for people, I've been a bunch of times and have been greatly saddened to see what has happened to the camp grounds. I would never lie to anyone about it, they have every right to know what has gone on and could continue to go on.
If you havent heard of a fest with a nitrous problem you havent been to vibes. If that is the case why are you posting here about it?

My # 1 was sarcastic, the person I quoted said NO2 was a problem, NO2 = Nitrogen dioxide - which I've never seen as a problem
my # 2 was expressing my thought on N2O and the issues all the fests have with it - there is a MAJOR N2O issue in our whole scene. I mean, when I come out of clubs in NYC, they are selling it on the frikin' sidewalk
I brought up the death because I have seen it posted about here several times and wanted to express exactly what I posted, that in the big picture, other fests have had more deaths than vibes in a far shorter time span. It seemed unfair that the death at the vibes was mentioned here several times and in different threads (and was the only mention of any death at any festival), when in reality vibes has one of the better/best records when it comes to deaths than any of the other major music festivals.

I've never been to Vibes, although it's one of those fests that I'd like to go to if the stars align properly. I think that last year was a bad year for Vibes, not because there was a death (we all know it's not uncommon for there to be a death or two at a festival) but because of the circumstances and rumors around that death. The initial rumors that came out of Vibes were disturbing, with talk that this was related to the nitrous mafia. Those were rumors and, as far as I can tell, not backed up by fact. However, the rumors and reputation have stuck. Al from moe. was pretty vocal after GOTV about his anti-nitrous stance, and that stuck out to a lot of people as well.
It's not fair that GOTV has gotten such a bad rap based on rumors surrounding the only death in their history. However, everything I've heard is that they have by far the biggest nitrous problem of any festival, and that it's gotten significantly worse of the years. I hope they clean it up, not only at Vibes but at other festivals.

Grow the hell up. actually, they have many purposes, informational (there are specific forums here dedicated to just information) as well as to build a community through conversations, a community that will meet up and camp together at Nateva as well as meet-ups at other shows, etc... This forum is called - The Whole Sort of General Mish Mash - so it is the one for general conversations. Seems like someone may have gotten out of the wrong side of the bed this morning  |

I really haven't seen a "battle of the message boards" demeanor over here. I have no desire, as I've stated before, to see any bad blood between Nateva and Vibes. There's obviously some of that happening, but it really seems primarily to be one person trying to stir up trouble, and some folks on this board biting. Did I get a post deleted? WTF? I deleted one post that was pointless and contained swearing, which we've said multiple times is against Proboards TOS. I thought it was a post by "visitor," but I may be mistaken on that. If you had a post deleted and you're confused as to why, PM a mod, please. |
