Be on the lookout for one-way deals. My buddies and I were originally planning on renting an RV here in NY last year for Bonnaroo, driving it down to TN, and then back up to NY afterward. It turned out that it was nearly 50% cheaper to fly down to Ft. Lauderdale, pick up an RV there, drive to Roo, then drive it up to NY.

Yup, definitely get going now if you want an RV. Last year I booked a 32' Class A for Bonnaroo about a month before the fest without any problems.
I called the same place (in Rowley, MA) yesterday and they didn't have a single RV left for that weekend! Ended up getting one through Cruise America though.... $1300 for a 30'er for 6 nights (Wed-Tues).
We drove that 32' Class A from MA to 'Roo last year straight through both ways. It cost a fortune in gas and the entire trip was a hair raising experience. But there's nothing like having your own clean toilet and shower come Saturday afternoon at a festival! So worth the bucks and the effort!

hammer - that sounds spendy! i took a normal RV from MA to roo a few years ago - it was crazy money. cant imagine what it cost for an A class on gas alone... if you have it, great - but otherwise, VIP is a more affordable option in TN

I re-read my post over and it's not worded very well. I'm not heading to 'roo this year.... it was the weekend of this year's 4th that was all booked up regarding the RV's. But I agree with you; if I 'roo again I'm either going to rent an RV down there near 'roo (and save the additional rental days, the gas money, and the hair raising drive) or go VIP as you are. I'm learnin'!

I'm learnin'! ive done roo as tent-only via plane, VIP RV, and VIP car (twice) - best bang for the buck is VIP car, by far. flying down kinda sucks unless you go Total Access, since you cant bring enough stuff. i suppose it depends if you are comfortable sleeping in a tent or if you need the luxury of the RV. it sure is nice with that AC in the afternoon after a long night

Got us a 30' large rv from cruise America. Paying $910 for 6 days, and split between two couples that's better than two hotel rooms. A couple things I've noticed change since they first announced the rv areas. Looks like there are only 70 hook-up sites and now they are saying no generators even at the non hook-up rv site. Glad I got hook-ups! Have to say, if they stick with their current map the rv with hook-ups are in a killer spot, can't wait!!
