Thank you to Frank and King Richard for giving me a wonderful festival experience. Knowing it was a first year fest I went in with zero expectations but came out smiling. The only down fall was the VIP tent location, please add one on the otherside of the track so we are closer to the stage. Lastly, I spoke Ken Hayes (Head of The Gathering Of The Vibes) a couple times and he was having a great time too... Thank you again!

Security sucked balls! never again... i don't really see how people were having problems with security, all i ever got was a pat down for weapons and beer/food, which is legit considering the whole 'we want to make as much money as possible vending" vibe [the camping area security seemed to focus a solid 90% of their attention on people selling bootleg shirts and poster]. only person i saw get hassled was trying to carry food into the concert area in their hands. it seemed to me as though they were trying to keep people safe and nothing else... not nearly as invasive as the mountain jam security crew but not quite as lax as the gathering of the vibes crew. then again, the gotv security crew let at least one nitrous tank onto the concert field last year. not all that many people got arrested, especially compared to other festivals, and i heard many were for nitrous [the only drug actually listed on the no-nos page] which are definitely the easiest drug dealers on the planet to pick out... kind of hard to hide a big tank, colorful balloons, and people fishing out on the ground around you. i'd expect festivals like this to just keep getting more and more nazi-like on the security and undercover agents. cops know that busting people at these things is like shooting fish in a barrel. they get to ignore the serious problems in society that might put them in harms way like the violent gangs that traffic heroin, coke, meth, etc by focusing their energy on busting kids that aren't the least bit dangerous.

Security sucked balls! never again... a certain few members of security sucked balls not everyone had the same experience as you. I'm sorry you felt violated and that security sucked. If you do decide to come back one year (assuming it's around for a few years) hopefully you will have a better experience than this year.

first let me state that i had a GREAT time at nateva, giving it was my first festival, i still had a good time. The only thing i would change at festivals like this one is to take out all of the bad vibe people, and quite frankly the entire weekend had some of those people, but it was still cool. the Vibe finally got better when people started to show up for Further, "The Real DEAD HEADS", the entire atmosphere changed and a huge smile ran up my face. I didnt have a single problem with security. they even took weed out of my gf's pocket and said that she was cool and let her go into the track area, also i had food in my back pack, which they searched, and they let me go. all they were doing was keeping everyone safe from nitrous, weapons and glass for peoples feet. the news cast here in the state said it was a success and it looks like it will happen again next year :-) i hope it does because i will just get better from here!
P.S... moe. blew my mind, just thought i would share that piece of info :-)

How many does that really hold - maybe 10? from my experience watching someone get kicked out, the cops only got involved when security called them in. otherwise, i never saw real cops in the campgrounds. the mounties are not police, btw, and they are not interested in you smoking a bowl...

there were Oxford PD making regular rounds on the roads in my camping area, but it was mostly the same older gentleman with an amused grin on his face, he was totally cool

I noticed that the security got tighter as the weekend progressed. The first time I walked through security, they were so nice I thought I might even get a hug. I spoke with the policemen stationed by the gate a few times, once inquiring into what sort of things one might drop into the "amnesty box" they had set up there, but stopping just short of asking if they had gotten anything really good yet and if I might be allowed to check it out.
The general mood of the department seemed to be that they weren't thrilled with this festival coming to town, but so far they hadn't seen any trouble at all. I also heard two locals at the grocery store across the road express the same sentiment. I'm assuming that things had changed by Sunday, when my little purse was searched so thoroughly by the same team that I felt violated. The man did apologize though, at which time I gently took him by the arm and thanked him kindly for his apology, both acknowledging that it was something necessary that neither one of us enjoyed being a part of.
Personally, I was very happy with security. I took my shoes off on Friday when I was satisfied that my feet would be safe from harm and left them at my campsite for the weekend without putting them back on again until it was time to leave on Monday. I couldn't have done that without their diligence. There was not a piece of glass anywhere. That's worth paying extra for. These guys were keeping my person, including my feet, safe from harm, yet I could sit down and light up a bowl right in front of them without fear. The man who searched my purse was not looking for my stash. I didn't even try to hide it, it was in plain sight. No hassle. (Imagine a hippie music festival that hassles people for smoking a little pot? No one would go next year.)
In hindsight, some of my positive experience with security might have to do with my age. I'm older than most of the police, and some of the security guards could have been my kids. I was treated kindly by all, and at this age, no one even considered patting me down, even when I offered to subject myself to a very thorough search by one particularly nice-looking fellow at the venue gate.
Overall, I was impressed by the sense of personal responibility I saw around me. People tended to police themselves and were kind to each other. I did notice a few of the younger folks that lacked a little courtesy for the people around them, but it was just a few, and they're young yet. It was nothing that won't most likely pass with time and experience. The feeling of safety that could only be found in the Deadhead community of old was still very much alive and well here - the old unwritten, unspoken rule - do your thing, but do no harm.

there were cool, I had a good 20 min convo with them and I was petting there horse.
They would always ride by are campsite and say "license and registration" or " You guys doing a bit a drinking to night?" in a mean cop voice.
