Should be interesting. I've been wanting to go to this fest for a few years. Heard some pretty negative things about the atmosphere though. Some sketchy things. Either way, I plan on attending at some point. Can't wait for the lineup.

Really? what have you heard? I was thinking that the atmosphere might not be as positive as a festival out in the country...

Really? what have you heard? I was thinking that the atmosphere might not be as positive as a festival out in the country... I've heard great things as well.....but there was a lot of "nitrous mafia" stuff I've read on various forums. Not sure exactly. There was a death last year that had some sketchy details. Read about it here: www.celebstoner.com/200907272641/news/celebstoner-news/death-at-the-vibes.htmlOf course, there are always sketchy things at most festivals, so it's not completely unheard of. I just seemed to see a lot of negative talk from people on certain boards. But i've never been so what do I know?

The vibe at vibes has gone south since it moved to Bpt, whether or not the location is to blame I dont know. The last 2 years had the most disgusting nitrous scene in the campground.. the mafia boys literally took over the last 2 years and ruined it for many many people. It made anything at All Good or Roth look like childs play. The death last year certainly didnt help and all the BS rumors surrounding the n20 mafias involvement. I love vibes, it was my first real festival but unless they can find a way to make things better in the camp grounds I wont be returning.

i was at vibes last year - first one.
lucked out by not being in the mud pits or next to any nitrous dealers. lots of "ice cold phatties" being sold to suckers who want to frizzle fry their brains for a 10 second high.
i thought it was a fun festival - but bridgeport is a real s#$@hole.
im surprised there are virtually no rumors about the lineup. vibes is sort of a second tier fest, imo - but it was a good time.
if you are shopping for party favors, the campgrounds are like a super walmart.

Had a sneaking suspicion that Furthur wouldnt be at Vibes... They have been on a track of disappointing their fans for like 5 straight years now.. atleast they got Umphreys. What kinda headliners are Nas and Damien, Primus, and Jimmy Cliff for the vibes?!!! Where is the love for Jerry?!

Definitely didn't see Nas and Damien or Primus as headliners for this festival. That's pretty interesting but it doesn't convince me to go automatically. There's some good acts on the bill but it's full of people at tons of other festivals (keller, umphreys). I guess the cool thing is that Keller is playing with Rhythm devils.
Decent lineup but not what I expected. I do like the throwbacks of Little Feat and New Riders of the Purple Sage.

Nas, Primus and Jimmy Cliff are all pretty good acts just not what one would expect for a fest that is usually centered around the dead/jerry.

I've been to numerous GOTVs. They are usually extremely enjoyable. I heard some bad crap about last year. I actually sold my tickets last year because I was extremely bummed with the lineup. The rumors about last year are just that .... rumors. The Nitrous is always a problem ..... no matter what show your at. (been to Phish lately?) I'm actually extremely impressed thus far with their lineup, so much so that I'm attending. Two great fests in one month within 3 hours of my house can't be passed up. Plus Primus, c'mon now.
PS: we will only have one drummer for our Furthur performance at Nateva. Jay Lane left to join Primus. Sad to see him leave cause he rocks, but glad to see Primus back with their original drummer from 20 years ago. (no literally 20 years..... I'm sooooo old.)

Oh yeah and there is plenty of love for Jerry. Mickey and Billy are there with Rhythm Devils, Donna Jean's Band is there, NRPS, DSO, Little Feat all played with the Dead. Plus the rumor is they procrastinated and Nateva and All Good jumped on Furthur. Can you blame them?

vibes line up is too little too late.
They must be trying to draw more locals with the addition of urban music

Definitely a nice lineup, but sadly I won't be making it this year. Primus, Umphrey's, Keller, Galactic, etc... Probably can't make that along with Roo and Nateva, but I can't make them all.

i've been to a few vibes festivals and always had a blast. i won't be able to go this year, but their lineup is very interesting and very different from past years.. could it be they're trying to shake the n20 mafia? Last year i was disgusted by the nitrous scene, much worse than at other festivals. i'm sure security was doing their best, but i honestly saw very little being done to control it. Hope Nateva does a better job!!

I hate to stereotype but I am not sure how they figure bringing in Primus, and Nas is going to help quell the nitrous problems in Bpt.

I been goin to the vibes since 2002 when it was at the ILCC in upstate NY. Best place for a festival IMO. Last years vibes was a mixed bag depending on where they parked/camped you. if you were west of the concert field, then you saw 100's and 100's of tanks going off with security turning a blind eye to it. Vibes had a hotline set up but claims they never got a call for nitrous but i find that hard to digest. I got my car broken into and over 300 in cash stolen. the good thing is, that can be replaced. if you were east of the concert field, it was another world. no nitrous, no BS. just boardies and family, RV and VIP camping, and a few lucky onces that were first in line. All BS behind me, the vibes is still a great fest to be at. If you like this years lineup then i would say go. For me, i'll wait till it finds a better home then bridgeport.

I had an absolute blast last year too. I'd probably be going back this year, in spite of the sketch factor, if it weren't for a little incident taking place that same weekend in Colorado.

Vibes has held many good memories for me over the years, but the problems have been growing the past few years, and being caught in the middle of the anti-nitrous backlash last year (things got ugly), as well as seeing that management at Vibes has been incapable of stemming that particular problem, well, it all left a bad taste in my mouth. Loving the line-up for Nateva, loving the zero tolerance policy right up front, hoping this can become the awesome scene it promises to be, and stays around for years to come. VIVA NATEVA! (I love being all poetical and stuff)

Vibes had a good run, maybe this would have been a good year for them to take off & get back to their roots. After all the problems with last year (and the promoters being in denial about it) i get the feeling their heart is not in it anymore. I also noticed that any opinion on their boards that is negative, the "vibegiudes" attack that poster, and people will join in saying they saw no N20 at the vibes.
The N20 at vibes last year was out of control. It was bad in 2008 and the promoter said he had plans to keep it out in 2009. I regret not snaping some pictures of the whole scene, in a strip as long as a football field (as wel as scattered all over the baseball fields) ....had more tanks than a warehouse. it was a very sad sight. the N20 maffia caused a lot of problems and, although it's not proven, could be the reason someone died. i was in the same general are where he was found wrapped in a tarp and was told he looked beat up. No info has come out except homocide was ruled out. I wont go into the GDF kids who were looking to beat up another group of people over some other BS. Most of this all unfolded on the last day, but the balloons were there since thursday night. it's still a fun festival but would be much better if held in a better place away from crack town.

kincade, I look forward to more of your sage advice. You are truly enlightened. The time you spend pointing out typos and other egregious violations of the board rules will surely warm the hearts of many.

idioteque, Thanks for the 'kind' words, true colors shine brightly. You know how to turn that charm on! show me where I pointed out a typo, it has not happened. In this case (which was the only type of scenario like this that I posted), I reminded a poster (who happened to be you) not to swear because I do not want the board to get in trouble with its host. I guess for that, I am a bad man Thanks for the call out - you know how to make a guy feel all warm and fuzzy (in a non-gay kinda way, not that there is anything wrong with that)
